The Bible was written to point the way to salvation. From the begging of the Bible to the end it all points to the cross. There is power in the word of God. Now you can read the Bible and not be changed. It isn’t the Bible that changes you but the One who wrote it. Your heart needs to be right before the seed of God’s word will take root. So what makes some words of God turn into a harvest and what makes some seed wither in the hot sun?
The trials of this life can make deep furrows in the soil that are good for planting. Maybe that’s why the trials of life put deep furrows (wrinkles) in our head? The Lord knows in my life that trials keep me close to Him. I live on a slippery slope. It doesn’t take much for me to stumble, I will admit that. I start eating one piece of chocolate and the next thing you know I have a half gallon of Moose Track Ice cream and a box of Hershey Kisses. I need to make sure each day that I exercise and stay away from that stuff. If I stay away I am pretty good but one taste and look out.
We each know what sin entangles us. So why do we tempt ourselves with getting close to that sin? A lack of fear of God is the main reason we let sin come in. I can tell you for certain that sin has its repercussions. It is true that the Lord can forgive our sins but that doesn’t mean we won't suffer consequences. It is better to stay far away from that which would entangle you. Another reason is that not only do we not only fear the Lord but we have humanized God. We think of God on our terms. I know you want to be close to God, I just know it. But most of you have forgotten how to get back to Him. Do me a favor. Get a pair of binoculars and go out to the country at night. Look up at the stars and you will see God’s majesty.
Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the Glory of God; the skies declare the work of his hands.”
We serve a God who created the heavens. Not just what you see but what is a trillion light years away. Not year's away but light years away. We get in trouble when we try to figure out God. We get into trouble when we ask God to show us a miracle. We get into trouble when we try to test God. We get into trouble when we doubt God. We get into trouble when we try to be our own God.
God is the beginning and the end. He was here BEFORE here was? So the next time you pick up the bible or pray remember whose words these are. If you can learn to stand in awe of YOUR creator then and only then can you FEEL God’s love.

The bible gives hope only when we can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. If you have not asked the Lord into your life and asked for forgiveness of your sins you do not have access to the Lord’s power and are not saved. The Lord our God is a gentleman. He will not come and impose himself into your life unless you ask Him to. Many of you today feel discontent, afraid of the future or just plain confused. Jesus is the only way to freedom and eternal life. Start out with the basics of life. Ask the Lord into your life and then read Gods word. It will transform your life. I know it and you can know it too. Make today the day you change the course of your life for eternity.
